From Trunks to Trapeze

It’s amazing how things can come back around. Circus Extreme recently approached me to get them some pictures and publicity in the local paper. The circus was one of the first jobs I did as a young, green photographer, so it was nice to revisit the old stomping ground and to see how it has changed since the 1980s.

When I first shot the circus, it was all about elephants, lions, tigers, people balancing on ponies and ringmasters who just stood at the side introducing acts. But nowadays the ringmasters get on the trapeze and entertain the crowd with slapstick. You also have motorbikes, cages and very high risk acts (no safety nets, etc.)

Here are some pictures from the day! If you want to know how I took them, please get in touch.
